What is the age difference between Adam and Olive?
The chemistry between Olive and Adam is insane.
There's an age gap of about 8-9 years between these two, so Olive loves to make fun of him for being old. She also loves to make fun of his healthy eating habits.
The touches spark a range of sensations Olive's never felt before, making her squirm. Adam tries to slide one finger inside her, but her tightness makes it difficult. She admits to having sex only a few times in college, which makes Adam recoil because she's practically a virgin.
While Olive does finally sleep with Adam at the conference, she soon tearfully breaks things off since she doesn't want to complicate things with Adam's joint research project with Tom.
The female lead, Olive Smith, is NOTHING like Rey. Okay, maybe she looks like her, but that's it. And really, I can't even be sure about that because her appearance is never actually described in detail, aside from her being 5'8″.
Genesis 5, the Book of the Generations of Adam, lists the descendants of Adam from Seth to Noah with their ages at the birth of their first sons (except Adam himself, for whom his age at the birth of Seth, his third son, is given) and their ages at death (Adam lives 930 years, up to the 56th year of Lamech, father of ...
An LGBT romantic comedy with a twist from the Comedy Women in Print prize winner Laura Steven, author of The Exact Opposite of Okay.
I also appreciated that the age gap in the relationship was socially acceptable, as Olive is 26 and Adam is 34. While there is a very obvious power imbalance, their relationship still feels equal. The characters respond in mature ways to each other.
I've seen The Love Hypothesis proclaimed as spicy, which it is, but it's in no way smutty. There's really only one (admittedly extensive) sex scene in this book. But that scene was absolute fire. Again, it's a slow burn of a romance, but the one aforementioned sex scene is about as open-door as it gets.
First, she decided to not tell Adam due to her concerns about his reaction, but then she is convinced to tell him because of her friends, not because she has any realization about him/their relationship that would lead her to trust that he would believe her.
Olive is demisexual, and the term is explained once in an internal monologue, and once to Adam. The latter of these scenes literally brought me to tears, because as a demi person, I love seeing a partner so understanding. The story is, as I mentioned, rich with romantic comedy tropes, and it doesn't shy away from them.
Will The Love Hypothesis be a movie?
Ali Hazelwoodʼs best-selling novel 'THE LOVE HYPOTHESIS' is officially being adapted into a film by Bisous Pictures. deadline.com/2022/10/bisous…
This book contains talk of cancer, language, alcohol, sexual content (both in conversation and 1 detailed scene). I would give this book an age rating of 18+.

In the Bible
According to the Bible, Methuselah died the year of the flood but the Bible does not record whether he died during or prior to the flood. He was also the oldest of all the figures mentioned in the Bible.
Additionally, Jared was a forefather of Noah and his three sons. Jared's age was given as 962 years old when he died (when Noah was 366), making him the second-oldest person mentioned in the Hebrew Bible and the Septuagint.
The book of Genesis mentions three of Adam and Eve's children: Cain, Abel and Seth.

A #1 LibraryReads and Indie Next Pick! From the New York Times bestselling author of The Love Hypothesis comes a new STEMinist rom-com in which a scientist is forced to work on a project with her nemesis—with explosive results.
It is a toxic attitude to bring into academia and is hurting more people than helping them become great scientists.
Ali Hazelwood started off writing fanfiction on Archive of Our Own (AO3), first for the Star Trek fandom before moving onto writing Star Wars - if you haven't figured it out yet, the main characters of The Love Hypothesis are based on Kylo Ren and Rey Skywalker from the latest Star Wars trilogy.
That alone would be a pretty impressive accomplishment, but Hazelwood isn't your average novelist: She also has a PhD in neuroscience and is a college professor, which she describes as “terrifying.” Like The Love Hypothesis, her new book, Love on the Brain, explores what she knows best: women in STEM who have a deep ...
- but where the book completely flew off the rails for me is when Olive is sexually assaulted out of the blue by Tom. I wasn't expecting this and it was so jarring and anxiety inducing that it basically ruined the rest of the book for me.
Is November 9 a spicy book?
What's it about? November 9 is a highly-strung romance by our absolute favourite, Colleen Hoover. I went into this expecting all the amazing tension that we normally find in a Hoover novel, and this book delivered that 110%.
In one scene, she literally sits on Adam's lap during a lecture because of a lack of space. All of us have been in crowded classrooms before and have somehow managed not to sit on our professors' laps! The most concerning aspect of this novel however, is the way that Olive and Adam begin their fake relationship.
LGBTQIA representation in well-developed supporting characters. Asexual representation- the protagonist, Olive, is most likely demisexual although this word is not used directly when she describes her sexuality (but an almost textbook definition is used).
Although narrated in the third person, this is Olive's story, her dreams, her work, her loyalty to her friends (while I want an Adam, can I also get an Anh and a Malcolm too, as part of the package), and her spunk. And her love for Adam.
Age Rating of Book Lovers
I'm giving Book Lovers an age rating of 16 and up. There is some sexual content that can easily be skipped and mature themes as the characters are adults working through adult problems.
No. It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover is not appropriate for children or Young Adults. It is only appropriate for Mature Adults aged 17 and over. It contains adult themes, including domestic violence, and explicit romantic content.
Couples with an age gap of 1 to 3 years (with the man older than the woman) were the most common and had the greatest levels of satisfaction. Relationship satisfaction decreased slightly for couples with age gaps of 4 to 6 years and continued to decrease for couples with an age gap of 7 or more years.
In short, research seems to indicate that in many cultures, an age gap of 1 to 3 years is considered ideal — but some researchers suggest even a relationship with an age gap of less than 10 years will bring more satisfaction.
They used these variations to create a more reliable molecular clock and found that Adam lived between 120,000 and 156,000 years ago. A comparable analysis of the same men's mtDNA sequences suggested that Eve lived between 99,000 and 148,000 years ago1.
While there's no "ideal" age gap between children, there are things to think about — or prepare for — as you expand your family. If you know you will have more than one child, deciding on when to have that second (or third) baby can be a big decision.
At what age gap is too big?
Studies have found partners with more than a 10-year gap in age experience social disapproval. But when it comes to our own relationships, both men and women prefer someone their own age, but are open to someone 10-15 years their junior or senior.
Think of 10 years as a general guideline, but be open to other ages as well—and don't limit yourself to dating only someone older. "'Cast a wide net' is what I tell all my clients,” Sussman says. “Men should date older, and women should be OK experimenting with dating younger.
The truth is, there is no ideal or appropriate age gap in a relationship. Whether it's a 20 year age gap relationship or a 5 year age gap relationship, there will be both challenges and benefits to your situation.
“The ideal age to get married, with the least likelihood of divorce in the first five years, is 28 to 32,” says Carrie Krawiec, a marriage and family therapist at Birmingham Maple Clinic in Troy, Michigan. “Called the 'Goldilocks theory,' the idea is that people at this age are not too old and not too young.”

Average ideal age for both genders has increased in last 60 years.
The Bible does not have any specific ruling on minimum or maximum age. Marriage is a serious issue and a lifetime covenant between two people. And whether the man is older than the woman or vice versa, is not given much attention in the Bible.
The book of Genesis mentions three of Adam and Eve's children: Cain, Abel and Seth.
According to the midrash, Ruth was forty years old and not a young woman when Boaz married her, a fact that stresses the urgency of her desire to marry and bear children (Ruth Rabbah 4:4; BT Shabbat 113b). The midrash puts Boaz's age at that time as eighty (Ruth Rabbah 7:4; Ruth Zuta 4:13).
Two children. Research suggests that having two children is still most people's idea of the 'ideal' family size.
- Sarah Paulson and Holland Taylor: 31 years.
- Alec and Hilaria Baldwin: 26 years.
- Jason Statham and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley: 20 years.
- Zach Braff and Florence Pugh: 21 years.
- Patrick Stewart and Sunny Ozell: 38 years.
Do age gaps matter as you get older?
Many people assume that age-gap couples fare poorly when it comes to relationship outcomes. But some studies find the relationship satisfaction reported by age-gap couples is higher. These couples also seem to report greater trust and commitment and lower jealousy than similar-age couples.
