Can you fuse glass together?

What temperature do you need to fuse glass?

Types of Glue for Glass

A: Cracking glass either during or after firing can be caused by a several things: thermal shock, heating up the glass too fast and compatibility. Thermal shock occurs either by taking the piece out of the kiln too soon, or by opening the kiln and exposing the hot glass to cool air.
There is no need for high-temperature ceramic molds or the use of any glass binders. Molds can be made of any flexible material, such as silicone, plastic, etc. Your 3D glass pieces fuse on a flat kiln shelf at about 1300 degrees F soaked for 20 minutes.
To keep it looking great for years to come, we recommend treating your fused glass artwork the way you would fine china or crystal: Keep it out of the microwave and dishwasher. Microwaves can heat unevenly and this, in turn, can lead to cracked glass due to thermal shock.
How long does it take to fuse glass in the microwave?
In this microwave it takes about 4 minutes to fuse the glass. I am not using gloves, because the kiln is only warm when I take it out from the microwave. The temperature will keep rising and after a few minutes the kiln will be hot, but by that time it will be sitting somewhere to cool down.

Can you use a normal fuse instead of a glass fuse?
Generally with fuses as long as you replace it with a fuse having the same rating it is OK to do so. Although ceramic fuses do offer better thermal and arc protection than glass fuses which is why they're used in microwave ovens and other high current appliances.
